Routine Dental Cleanings & Exams

Oral hygiene is an essential part of staying healthy. Dr. Felt encourages patients to come in for a routine dental check-up and cleaning every six months. Preventive dentistry means you’ll be less likely to wake up with a swollen, aching jaw. It also means future dental treatments will be easier, less painful, and less expensive.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants act as a barrier, protecting the teeth against decay-causing bacteria. They are a plastic material usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars) where decay occurs most often. Thorough brushing and flossing help remove food particles and plaque from smooth surfaces of teeth. But toothbrush bristles cannot reach all the way into the depressions and grooves to extract food and plaque. Sealants protect these vulnerable areas by “sealing out” plaque and food.

Tooth Extraction

Tooth extraction, or removal, may be necessary to prepare a smile for restorative therapies, alleviate crowding, or treat an irreparably damaged tooth. One common extraction is the third set of molars, or wisdom teeth. If a tooth requires extraction, Dr. Felt will perform the procedure with compassion, skill, and a focus on your comfort.

Teeth Grinding

Do you find yourself grinding your teeth when you’re stressed? What about when you’re asleep? Involuntary teeth grinding (bruxism) can do a number on your teeth and jaw, and many people don’t even realize they’re doing it. A custom-fitted nightguard is an easy way to give your jaw a rest and preserve your teeth.
