MEET THE FELT FAMILY DENTAL TEAM

Felt Family Dentistry opened its doors in October 2003 with a commitment to excellence. Our outstanding, friendly staff is our greatest asset. We are excited about what we are doing, we have high standards of quality and integrity, and we are motivated to achieve the best results for our family of patients. We all work together to create the most enjoyable experience possible. We care about our patients, and provide them with only the best, most professional care.

MEET OUR DOCTORS

Roy Dentist Felt

Dr. Jeremy Felt

Born in Franklin, Indiana, Dr. Jeremy Felt moved to Utah when he was seven years old. He grew up in Layton and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Utah and Weber State University. For most of his life, Dr. Felt had wanted to work in healthcare, as well as run his own business and work with people every day—and dentistry provided him the opportunity to do all three. So he returned to Indiana, where he earned his DDS degree at Indiana University School of Dentistry. After settling his family back in Utah, Dr. Felt started his own practice. “I love seeing how good dental work can have a major impact on the lives of my patients,” he says. Providing an outstanding patient experience and a happy staff are major priorities for Dr. Felt. “I think the doctor’s attitude and energy set the tone for the office and patients can sense that. If everyone is happy and having a good time, patients are less nervous and their overall experience is better.” Dr. Felt is married to LaShele, also from Layton, and they currently have three children: Skyler, Weston, and Kate. Dr. Felt enjoys golf, running, outdoor activities, reading, and spending time with his family. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Utah Dental Association. He also speaks fluent Spanish. A tip from Dr. Felt: When flossing, make sure to wrap the floss around each tooth individually. Because teeth are curved, a straight up and down motion can cause you to miss a lot of plaque between teeth.

Dave Layton Dentist

Dr. David Felt

Dr. David Felt was born in Ogden and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. The decision to become a dentist came later for Dr. Felt than for most. After his first sons were born, he chose to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and several other family members who had forged successful dental careers. Dr. Felt completed his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Utah, then attended Indiana University to earn his DDS degree. After graduating, Dr. Felt and wife Nicole moved the family back to their beloved home state of Utah. They have three sons—Austin, Taylor, and Caden—and one daughter, Haley. Since joining the dental profession, Dr. Felt has never looked back. “I enjoy being a dentist,” he says. “I like considering patient concerns and determining available options for resolving these concerns. Every patient and every day are just a little bit different, which keeps things interesting. I make an effort to help patients feel comfortable throughout the experience. I am grateful that they have chosen me and trust me to help them.” Thanks to his service as an LDS missionary in northeastern Brazil, Dr. Felt is fluent in Portuguese. He enjoys skiing, biking, and especially being a husband and father. Dr. Felt is a member of the American Dental Association and the Utah Dental Association. A tip from Dr. Felt: Regular dental visits help us identify problem areas before they begin to cause pain.

Roy Dentist HanksDr. Mercedes Hanks

Dr. Hanks graduated from the University Of Southern California School Of Dentistry in 2013. She was born in Mexico but moved to the San Diego area and was raised there before attending the University of Utah for her undergraduate studies. Her mother is also a dentist and practices in San Diego. Dr. Hanks loves living in Utah with her husband (whom she met at a Brazilian Capoeira class at the U), her two little girls (ages 3 and 7 months) and her two dogs (a min-pin doxie and puggle).

Her main hobbies include spending time with her kiddos and husband. She says, “I do like to do capoeira and run when time and energy allows. I love to bake or try new recipes for meals. I am trying to teach myself to crochet and sew (I want to learn to make my kids Halloween costumes and super cute outfits).”

Dr. Hanks is committed to quality and comfort in her dental care. “I like to treat the patient like I would a family member, give them the best work I can and make sure they are informed as to why something is needed. I know having someone invading their personal space is no fun, so if I can make the experience more pleasant, I have done my job.”

MEET OUR STAFF

ROY OFFICE

Michelle

Office Manager

With 22 years in the dental profession and 11 years at Felt Family Dentistry, office manager Michelle Bird knows how to keep things running smoothly so patients get the best, most efficient care. In addition to overseeing all aspects of the office, she is a fierce defender of patients when dealing with insurance companies, and takes pleasure in getting those companies to pay for treatments they initially declined. She also loves getting to know the practice’s patients personally and watching their families grow up. A native of Utah, Michelle is married and has two sons and a dog. A tip from Michelle: If you have sensitive teeth that make cleanings a pain, ask for our special rinse that numbs your gums so you can relax during treatment.

Krista

Front Office/Reception

I work at the front desk and have been with Felt Family Dentistry for one year. Some of my job duties that I enjoy are answering the telephones, scheduling appointments, calling on dental insurance benefits, filing charts, filling documents, and checking patents in and out. My most favorite part of my job is welcoming patients to the office and getting to know them.  I believe it is important to help patients feel welcome. I like helping the office run smoothly as it improves the patient’s experience.  I enjoy the atmosphere at Felt Family Dentistry.  The staff is happy to be at work and that feeling is contagious.  I have lived in Utah most of my life.  I graduated from Utah State University.  I love camping, hiking, and backpacking.  I also love music and singing.

Kelsey

Front Office/Reception

I went to Intermountain Dental Assisting in 2013, I did work in another dental office for about a year. I got married in 2015, we shortly after had my daughter, Ember Lee. I stayed at home with her till she was almost a year old, then I started working at Felt Family Dentistry in June of 2017. I love working at Felt Family Dentistry because everyone here works as a team, we all have the same goal, and that is to make sure the patients are happy, and comfortable. I work in the front as well as the back and I enjoy it because I feel like I really get to know the patients.

Breanna

Dental Assistant

Bre has lived in Roy her entire life.  She grew up playing sports and competing in rodeos.  Her favorite things to do include hunting, fishing, riding her horses, going to the sand dunes and snowmobiling.  She says the best part of working at Felt Family Dentistry is getting to help people and “see all the smiles.”

Lisa

Hygienist

Getting to know her patients makes Lisa Bremser’s job as a dental hygienist fun and satisfying. And after 10 years at Felt Family Dentistry, she’s gotten to know and serve a lot of great people. Patients appreciate her skill in screening for periodontal disease and cleaning teeth, as well as for the time she takes to talk to each person about how to maintain oral health. Lisa wants every patient to feel confident about their smile, and urges patients to relax and feel comfortable about asking questions anytime throughout their appointment. A tip from Lisa: Here’s a trick for overcoming a sensitive gag reflex—hum. You can’t hum and gag at the same time, so if you hum (during X-rays, for example), you won’t gag.

Linda

Hygienist

Before graduating in 2011 from Weber State with a BS in Dental Hygiene, Linda Wood spent 17 years as a dental assistant.  After being in the mouth for so long she knows how important a healthy mouth is to a person’s overall health. She now loves to make sure her patients have a good experience while getting their teeth cleaned and loves teaching them about proper oral health techniques.  Outside of work, Linda enjoys spending time with her husband of 24 years, 2 daughters, hiking, and staying active.  Linda is also a big Harry Potter and Disney fan.

Alex

Hygienist

My name is Alex. I have been in general dentistry for seven years. When I was in junior high school I decided I wanted to be a dental hygienist and I kept with my dream and here I am.  My favorite part of my career is establishing rapport with each of my patients and treating/maintaining/educating them about their smile. Outside of work I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and three boys. We enjoy riding ATV’s and snowmobiles as well as playing sports. I truly enjoy being a member of the Felt Family Dentistry team.

Sheryl

Hygienist

With seven years of experience with Felt Family Dentistry, hygienist Sheryl Panter loves meeting and talking with her patients each day. It’s important to her to give each person the best, most healthy smile they can achieve. In her free time, Sheryl enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and her daughter, mostly playing and working outside and staying active.

Meredith

Hygienist

Thrilled to be part of the Felt Family Dentistry team, Meredith is committed to providing her patients with excellent hygiene care. Her favorite part of her job is getting to know her patients and forming friendships with them over the years. She finds it especially satisfying when she is able to help patients overcome their anxieties and enjoy improved oral health. When not at work she can be found playing soccer, mountain biking, skiing or playing with her four kids.
A tip from Meredith: For a cleaner, healthier mouth and fresher breath use a tongue scraper daily.

Sierra

Hygienist

With past experience as both a dental and orthodontic assistant, hygienist Sierra Hull is happy to be working with the fun staff and great patients of Felt Family Dentistry. She enjoys getting to know so many new people every day as she works with patients. In addition to her duties of dental cleanings, periodontal assessments, X-rays, flossing, and tooth polishing, Sierra also puts a high priority on oral health education. Her expertise has helped many patients improve their health and their habits. She strives to treat every patient with the utmost respect and care. A tip from Sierra: Brush morning and night and floss every day. Your appointments are painless when your gums are healthy.

Debbie

Hygienist

Debbie grew up in Interdependence, Missouri. She moved to Utah in 1985. She graduated from Weber State University with a BS in Dental Hygiene in 1998. Debbie loves to work in the dental field after all these years. The best part of her job is getting to know her patients. “I want to make the patients feel at ease and comfortable as possible.”  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 boys skiing, watching soccer games and enjoying the outdoors.

LAYTON OFFICE

Shaylee

Hygienist

Shaylee Marler began her dentistry career in the U.S. Army, providing dental services to people all over the world. Eight years later, as a dental hygienist at our Layton location, she is still working closely with a variety of people and helping to improve their quality of life. She does this through gentle, professional care that includes cleanings, X-rays, and fluoride treatments. Above all, she enjoys educating patients to help them improve their oral health habits, which can affect their overall health. Shaylee strives to provide every patient with a comfortable and positive atmosphere at Felt Family Dentistry. A tip from Shaylee: Dedicate a full two minutes twice a day for brushing. Use gentle pressure and always use a soft or an ultra-soft toothbrush.

Heidi

Office Manager

Office manager of our Layton location, Heidi Boatright has been working in dental industry for over eighteen years. She is a seasoned pro who knows how to run a practice that’s professional and welcoming. Her role gives her the opportunity to get involved in almost every aspect of the office, including greeting patients, addressing questions and concerns, verifying insurance coverage, creating cost estimates, submitting and tracking insurance claims, answering phones, making appointments, and updating charts. By far, however, her favorite part of the job is helping patients feel confident about themselves and their smiles. A tip from Heidi: Make it simple—brush twice a day.
