Check your dental insurance

Each dental insurance provider or plan varies. Before you schedule an dentist checkup, contact your dental insurance provider to see what your plan covers. That way you know ahead of time what dentists are included in your network, and approximately how much you’ll be out-of-pocket.

Check the date

If you are just going to squeeze your dentist checkup during a workday, plan on more than just a visit during your lunch hour. Ask your dentist how long the procedure is likely to take and adjust your schedule accordingly.

Brush your teeth

Your dentist will clean your teeth while you visit, but it’s nice to get an early head start and get rid of any obvious food that may be stuck in your mouth and lurking between your teeth.

Arrive early

Leave early for your dentist visit, especially if it is your first visit. First time visits require standard forms to be completed. Even if it’s not your first time, sometimes follow up forms may be needed. By arriving early you ensure that your allotted time is spent on dental care and not filling out forms.
